What is the Meaning & Definition of feminism

We mean by feminism to that system of ideas and thoughts that seek to enhance the place and power of the woman (or women) in the traditionally patriarchal society and dominated by men. Feminism is a fairly current phenomenon as it is it is newly present in the 19th century and especially in the 20th century in different parts of the world. Feminism has achieved over time many advances for women although there are still many issues and problems unsettled due to the complexity of the current human societies. Feminism is a phenomenon that arises in the middle of the 19th century with the emergence of other social movements related to the pursuit of social and labour rights. Feminism is a particular history prior to this time, but however it is not until the end of the 19th century and throughout the 20th century that the achievements of this movement are really noticeable. Feminism is characterized by search and respect for the rights of women, rights that have never existed for them or that have been lost by religious, political or cultural issues. Thus, one of the first fights of the feminist movement was the achievement of the women's vote in societies in which political participation began to open up, but only to men. In many other cases, the claims of feminism went further, seeking to establish equality between men and women in areas such as labour or professional. Although the changes in these areas are the most egregious, perhaps still are many things to accomplish. Feminism is today interested in basically achieving the protection of women and girls who suffer different types of abuse and domination by men of the societies to which they belong. This is particularly important in societies in which the traditional structures take precedence over the modern, as well as in societies in which trafficking, prostitution, organized crime, gangs and poverty are continuously present.
