What is the Meaning & Definition of Neurology

Referred to as Neurology to the medical specialty that deals with the study, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of those disorders that affect the central nervous system. Among the different types of conditions that is Neurology, the so-called vascular brain diseases are one of the most important disorders neurology focusing to solve or at least mitigate.
Cerebrovascular disease is a group of disorders that affect a specific area of the brain in transient or permanent way a ischemia, hemorrhage or by some other disease process that affects especially the blood flow.
Although it is not as common hear speak of them, since there are other conditions which have a much more important press, vascular brain diseases are the third cause of death in Western cultures, happening to heart disease and cancer and the leading cause in what regards some type of disability in people exceeding 65 years of age ischemia is the most recurrent of them all.
Among the main factors that contribute to the development of it we find on the one hand some preventable as it is the case of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, high cholesterol, excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs and the intake of oral contraceptives and then with those non-modifiable factors such as sex, age, race and genetic inheritance.
Neurons like those found in the cerebral cortex, the cerebellum, the hippocampus or in the striatum, tend to be the most affected by ischemia.
In the meantime, may be that the ischaemic is transient, i.e., that after a few hours, the restoration of neural conditions is full and don't have sequels, either it occurs as a constant and with a strong sense to the involution of the patient rather than to the evolution.
The most recognizable symptoms of ischemia include us with loss of consciousness and orientation, the decrease of the circulatory capacity, in some cases, loss of speech and reasoning capabilities, as well as disability in members below or above, among others.
