What is the Meaning of Hieroglyphic

Considered one of the earliest forms of human writing, hieroglyphic was a writing system developed by the ancient Egyptian civilization. It is without a doubt one of the most famous forms since it is structured on the basis of drawings and symbols instead of characters. Hieroglyphic writing is considered to be also one of the most complex human beings, together with some Eastern writings, failed to create since each symbol represented not a word if not an idea or a concept. Therefore, their understanding is not linear but that you must take into account all the drawings in each message. The hieroglyphic term means in Greek "Holy Scripture" or "divine writing". In this sense, many of the earliest forms of writing created by man can then receive the name of hieroglyph. However, this applies almost with exclusivity for drawings and symbols invented by the Egyptian civilization. Its origins take us approximately 3300 BC, moment in which human beings began to create the first forms of writing. Hieroglyphics were used as a language by the scribes (a privileged group of society who could read and write) in all kinds of documents and writings, but also as a form of decoration and writing in monuments and buildings of great importance. Hieroglyphic forms can not be understood in the same way that we understand every word or letter of our language. This is so since each character, usually a figurative (although not always) symbol, represents an idea or a concept that should be attached to other symbols to understand the meaning of the entire message. Normally, those figurative symbols are representations of animals or typical elements of Egyptian culture and the environment in which it took place. While Western man had contact with this form of writing very early, from the established commercial contacts between East and West, it would not be until the end of the 18th century when you decrypt finally much of its meaning. This happened to be to discovered the famous Rosetta Stone in 1799 by the French. This stone contained the same message in hieroglyphics, demotic (another characteristic of Middle Eastern language) and Greek, allowing experts to make the translation of a large part of the meaning of such symbols.
